Has Apple Fallen Behind in the Design Game?
My opinion here has always been and remains unchanged: Yes and no.
Good design is the ability to intuit the user’s intent and make use of the user’s intuition.
On one hand, I say no because Apple continues to create some of the highest quality and most functional hardware known to mankind. If we only knew the amount of ingenuity and effort required to build something like the Apple Pencil, our heads would explode. But, they make it look easy. That is amazing.
Yes, because look at the screenshot below and tell me, where I would go to manage my iCloud storage?
Answer: General > Storage & iCloud Usage > iCloud Manage Storage > … smh.
With respect to hardware, no — they are on top of their game. With respect to software, yes, Apple has fallen way behind.
